“As with all aspects of the house, we had two main considerations when designing the wine cellar: (1) excellent presentation, products/materials along with competent installers/suppliers, and (2) an ambience that made the space unique and inviting.
We also required an environment that would protect the wine collection. Such an environment must include a temperature control that keeps the wine at a constant temperature, and a lighting source that does not introduce heat of any kind in the wine cellar.
When talking about these issues with Read Hunker, he informed us of an excellent product in fiber optics -- the only lighting technology that provides adequate lighting for the cellar and does not harm the wine. Then regarding the ambiance of the cellar, we discovered that this particular fiber optic lighting scheme allowed us to create a unique ambiance.
Read also created a flicker emulating gas lights for the ceiling chandelier and sconces. Reminiscent of the historic wine cellars of Europe, this current-day technology harkens back to the ambiance of olden days of wine cellars.”

Vicky and I have been in our house for just over a year, now, and I feel it is time to comment on the exceptional lighting that you have provided. We both feel that the lighting that you designed (and presided over during its installation) is the highlight of our home. You offered us a design that was far superior to the schematic that was included with our original house plans. Our very contemporary home is so much nicer-- and allows for more efficient living-- with a design that effectively lights up the "work spaces" as well as highlighting the artwork on the walls. We especially appreciate the various filters that provide specific degrees of illumination. The comments that we have received from visitors are evidence that the lighting in our home is the feature that attracts the most attention.
You have obviously mastered the art of creating effective and beautiful lighting as it pertains to a designated space. We also greatly appreciate the quality of your work and your dedication to perfection.
